What is your running history?
I started running shorter distance events a number of years ago as a way to motivate me to train and stay in shape. My passion for running, and spending time on the trails, has grown since then. I've run everything from 5K to 50 miler, on the roads, but mostly on the trails.
What running groups/communities are you involved with?
I primarily run and train solo. But, I make sure to give back to the running community by volunteering at least twice per year. The last number of years I volunteer at the Superior Trail Races with trail marking, aid station captain, runner tracking, and other odd jobs. I've also volunteered at a number of races in the Endless Summer Trail Race Series.
What is your favorite running experience?
My favorite running experiences were the 2 times I was a paced at the Lake Wobegon Marathon. It was fun and incredibly rewarding experience!
What events are you running/racing in 2016? What are your goals?
Nothing too crazy this year, but my initial plans are: Extreme North Dakota Sand Hills 25K, Surf the Murph 25K, and a trail marathon and possibly 50K in the fall. We'll see what else happens!
What do you talk about when you talk about running?
How much I enjoy it! It brings peace and joy to me, mentally and physically. I really enjoy getting out on new trails and exploring when I get the chance.
What is your favorite Fitsok sock and why?
My go to sock is the CF2 quarter length. It has the perfect amount of cushion, protects my ankles from trail debris, and I have never gotten a blister!
What are your major running accomplishments (races completed, PRs, awards won)?
I am most proud of completing my first 50 miler and winter ultra - Voyageur 50 Mile and Tuscobia 35 Mile Winter Ultra. I had a lot of fun training and preparing. It was difficult, time consuming, and rewarding!
