What is your running history?
My running "career" started over 35 years ago in college but not as you may think. I was a football player in high school and didn't consider cross country or track at that age. My college hosted a 10K run and I decided to sign up. I was hooked, and being the typical late bloomer, I came into my stride in my late 30s/early 40s to become a decent marathon and middle distance runner. This, along with my main passion for triathlon.
What running groups/communities are you involved with?
I am a member of One Multisport, an endurance based club based out of Scottsdale, AZ. I am a member of their Elite Team as well.
What is your favorite running experience?
I have to say, my 3 times at the Boston Marathon have been amazing. I also have a consecutive 13 finish at the Arizona Rock and Roll Marathon (since 2004) and hope to keep that streak going. Finishing the Ironman World Championships in Kona, HI on Ali'i Drive is an out of body experience!
What events are you running/racing in 2016? What are your goals?
I won my age group at the 2016 Arizona Rock and Roll Marathon in January and also was the top 50+ racer in the entire event. I hope to podium at the Ironman St. George 70.3 race in May and also qualify for the 70.3 World Championships in 2017 at the 70.3 Ironman Arizona race in October.
What do you talk about when you talk about running?
Finishing strong. Patience. Work the process and do the workouts. Then you have no excuses.
