Athlete Profile

Fitsok is excited to tell the stories of runners across the country and how they RUN FOR IT every day.

Willie Tibbets, 39

Where are you from?

Eagan, MN

Where do you run?

I run close to home or meet friends to run around the Minneapolis Lakes.

When did you start running?

My first race was at a picnic when I was 5 yrs old!

That’s an early start. What motivates you to stay with it?

I know that after logging so many miles, arrives the joyful time of getting new shoes. Honestly, I inherently love the freedom and exhilaration of running

How many races do you plan on finishing in 2010?

14-16 races.

A lot of races! So, what’s the craziest event you’ve ever run in?

Running an 12 hour relay through the night, all for the well earned prize of free breakfast at a Denny’s type restaurant.

When you line up at the starting line at a marathon, what’s on your mind?

“I can do this… I WILL DO THIS!”

Willie, what do you run for?

I run to be a role model for my daughter. I run because my husband continuously supports and encourages me. I run to spend time with friends and to honor other friends who can not run. I run because you get race shirts, meet new people on the course and earn finishing medals. Regardless if it’s a race or training plan, I run because it always contributes to a better day.

Tell us about your experience with wearing Fitsok.

I have always been a huge fan of running socks or having a pair or lucky race day socks. I don’t like to wear those bulk white socks out of the bag. It was years of trial and error to find a brand that didn’t cause me blisters during speed workouts or races. Fitsok was a sponsor of the 2009 Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon and runners received a pair for free. I took a chance and wore them for my big day… and Fitsok is the first sock that I finished a marathon blister free! I checked my feet more than once to be sure this was the case. I have not worn any other brand of sock since that day!
