Fitsok is excited to tell the stories of runners across the country and how they RUN FOR IT every day.
Good question – I was born in Burnsville, moved to Lakeville after kindergarten, then moved to Faribault for middle school, moved to West Chester, PA during high school, moved to Rosemount, MN after high school, moved to Minneapolis for college, moved to Maple Grove after getting married, and currently reside downtown Minneapolis. Where am I from? Home is where my family is.
I love to run along the Mississippi River Parkway from Minneapolis to St. Paul because I can’t escape the rolling hills; however, I also enjoy the Minneapolis chain of lakes. I enjoy running in St. Paul with a group of friends that are also training for Boston.
I love talking to new runners! First, I am convinced that everyone is a runner, some people just haven’t discovered it yet! Second, your body is always capable of far more than what your mind is telling you. So when you feel tired, keep going! Third, it’s only a hill if you give it a name. Fourth, quality socks and the right shoe are crucial!
I can’t escape myself when I run. I learn new things about myself: I set goals, I reflect on the past, I solve problems, I dream big, I enjoy the scenery. I run because each time I toe the line of a new race I have an opportunity to race against my toughest competition, myself. It’s always a race, some days I’m racing against talented runners, but most days I’m competing against the early morning sunrise. Every morning when my alarm goes off at 4:30AM I know I have an opportunity to get up, and see what I’m made of. Running gives me a chance to better myself, to push boundaries, to accomplish things I never thought possible. I am most alive when I’m running. There is a life of satisfaction that comes when one lives on “the other side of sweat”; on the other side of a job well done, of a life lived at its maximum potential. That is what I run for.
My husband found Fitsok before me. He purchased a pair when we went up to run the Gary Bjorkland Half Marathon (in Duluth), and loved them! After that, I received a free pair from Run n Fun in St. Paul, and a free pair from Twin Cities in Motion. After I ran a warm Chicago Marathon race in the F4 sock—and didn’t lose a toenail or get a blister—at that point, I became a “Fitsok for-lifer”! Quality socks can make or break a race!
